Re: The ... What are you doing or thinking right now - Topic
Off to our men's kitchen with Mrs McCubbin's husband Bob. Amazing, we went to Eglinton and Winton schools at the same time and were born a few hundred yards from each other all those years ago in Ardrossan. Bob lives in the next town here in Oz.
We'll make a meal, some to take home and one to sit down with a glass of wine and to solve the world's problems. Mind you we have a couple of women who we look to for advice. Great therapy!

MY BIG KILMARNOCK BONNET
Traditional
Resolved that I wid leave the plough,
I said tae farmer Brown;
The money that I've worked for,
Be kind as put it down.
In Glesca' toon at half-past three,
This very day I mean tae be ;
I've been ower lang a gawkie in the country.
CHORUS.
For wi my big Kilmarnock bonnet,
When I ran tae catch the train;
I'll ne'er forget the mug that I
Was made by Sandy Lane.
He said, man Jock, when you arrive,
Just ask for Katie Bain
She stops in number eighteen street in Glesca'.
Noo, when I arrived in Glesca', freens.
The first chap I did meet;
I said, man, wid ye be as kind
As show me eighteen street.
Says he, d'ye think ye've got a mug,
Take that, an' struck me on the lug ;
An' said, my man ye"ll find yer match in Glesca'.
A bonnie lassie she cam' up,
Dressed in a stripped frock;
An' looked into my face an' said,
Hallo is that you Jock,
Ye're big Kilmarnock's aff the plumb,
Ye're gaun tae stand a glasso' rum;
Hoo lang dae ye intend tae bide in Glesca'.
The lass I treated an' asked the place,
She said she'd let me see ;
An' as for Kate Bane, she said,
She stops next door to me.
Says I, she kens ane Sandy Lane,
The lassie said, the very same !
Come on wi' me tae eighteen strest in Glesca'.
She introduced me tae her neebour,
But if she was Kate Bane ;
I only hope an' trust that I
Will ne'er see her again.
They left me wi my drawers an shirt,
My bonnet besmearred wi' dirt;
Tae wander through the muckle street o' Glesca.
But my sorrow wisna ended,
I had mair tae seek beside ;
The nicht being dark, an' me half drunk,
I tumbled in the Clyde.
They pulled me oot an' swore each yin,
They stood an' watched me jumping in,
An' got me thirty days in "quad" in Glesca
Footnote: One of the many songs from the 18th and 19th centuries warning young country workers of the dangers lurking in big cities! The Kilmarnock Bonnet of the title is a famous item of Scottish headwear, dating back at least to 1647, when the Kilmarnock Corporation of Bonnet Makers was founded. The song was widely circulated on popular broadsheets and was recorded by the King of the Cornkisters, Willie Kemp in 1936. He was a great favourite of my grandfather’s and I first heard My Big Kilmarnock Bonnet on a wind-up gramophone. Happy days!

It's made up of lonely moments
there was always a moment there when i knew
you always gave instalments
always knew u concentrated and grew
And I believe in reinvention
do you believe that life is holding the clue
take away all the lonely moments
give me full communication with you
Your smile shine a little light, alright
dont hide, shine a little light
give up on your pride
Do you believe in reinvention
do you believe thar life is holding the clue
any way to face the silence
any way to face the pain that kills you
Your smile shine a little light, alright
dont hide, shine a little light
give up on your pride
Give up on your pride, the moment's gone
give up on your smile, life is long
so i seen a bad dream, that you were gone
I got bitten on the soul, my blood will run
Give up on your pride, the moment's gone
give up on your smile, life is long
so I seen i bad dream, you were gone
you're bitter and cold, my blood will run
there was always a moment there when i knew
you always gave instalments
always knew u concentrated and grew

Re: The ... What are you doing or thinking right now - Topic
Had a most wonderful day today with family spent in the open air (as recommended in these times) in our back patio - weather was so nice. Some are staying overnight and will be with us for Christmas dinner tomorrow. While this was going on here's a big shout out to Marco who got our board problems ironed out while the above was going on. Thanks, Marco. Marco's site: https://phpbbstudio.com/index.php

I was surprised to find in a charity shop in Saltcoats four genuine Spanish porcelaine Lladro' statuetes. A real treasure. I've been collecting them for years, and never expected to find the likes in a Saltcoats charity shop.
Obviously Saltcoats folk like going to Spain for holidays and these were brought back as souvenirs. Ole!

Been sitting on sofa waiting for my wife getting ready so we can go and get the " messages " lol
Always makes me laugh that phrase.
Oanyhoo 1 hour and a half later she is still faffing around wondering what to put on .
You know the script guys - yes dear that looks lovely.
" oh I think I'll put this on instead" aaaaghhh.
Been married 3 months on 5th February, engagement anniversary on 19th.
Just made another blunder even she said
Does my bum look big in this?
To which I replied Darling your bum looks big in everything .
Of course I didn't speak that out loud , or think it.
I can hear all the women saying. Yeah right.
Truthfully getting married is one of the best things I did , she was and is my best mate , that sounds weird when I say it out loud " I married my best mate "
Ah well at least I have an excuse not to build the humongous kitchen unit as obviously I will be too tired when we get back ..
Have a wonderful and blessed day y'all

How are you guys coping with Dudley in Scotland ? In East Ang!ia it's not to bad, just a few twigs falling from the trees nothing major. The surprising thing was it was so hot i was sweltering this morning walking the dog ... not used to that recently.
