A LOT TO LEARN

A modest mein is by heaven inspired
When found in friends is much admired
There are many who rant and preach
While others deeds, their lesson teach
An honest word, a cheery smile
Helps the weary o'er many a mile
It's message clearly demands respect
The same as you no doubt expect
To reason why such gems so pure
Are usually found among the poor
Sharing your joys, and your sorrows
Your good todays or bad tomorrows
Making the grass much greener grow
Smoothing the rivers mad rushing flow
Words of caution tightens your rein
Then with care they sooth prides pain
Scattered thro' life there's only a few
So don't let scorn obscure your view
If all you do is sigh and yearn
You still have quite a lot to learn.

Faults in others are easy to find
When, you have a one track mind
A stupid man can always read
His brightest thoughts in anothers deed
A benign smile tries to conceal
What some hearts may really feel
With great delight he plays a part
Belittling others he thinks is smart
The silly fools they need correction
From he who has achieved perfection
Maybe not quite but whose to question
None can doubt his good reputation
It is the best, he should know
All his friends they tell him so
Not in, words he can read their mind
If you can't see, you must be blind
Then the prize when he succeeds
Fooling a fool is smart indeed
Even tho' you never sigh and yearn
You still can have a lot to learn
