It was a tremendous match to watch on television. I also like the headline in my newspaper today - DARVELOUS!

It's a Funny Old Game

Good topic that - Jim, and deseves more...
I know about Bosman.. but still dont understand it. Why do i read constanly that present * Rangers players are out of contract shortly. So would go for nothing?. Why not sell and get some money before the contract runs out?

*Could be any team.

Brian
Why would any team pay money for a player they could get for nothing at the end of the season. Unless they are in dyer need, but under the rules in most countries transfers are not allowed out-with the transfer window which will open again at the end of the season. The exception to this is if the player is already out of contract. Regarding the Rangers players who will be out of contract soon I haven’t heard of any teams queuing up with an interest in signing them.
Bosman won the right for players to have some control of their contract, ie free to leave when they have fulfilled the terms of the contract. This was different to what happened previously which was basically slavery.

Meekan, That's fine. Thank you for the reply.

They say the Bosman case was the legal case of the century in sport. It was important even if I didn’t get a lot of recognition. No players have contacted me to say thank you. It is difficult to explain to young footballers what the case means.”

He also ended up with alcoholism, bankrupt and a spell in prison.

Is that the cost of fame? Some people can’t handle it, I would imagine there would have been a lot of influential people in the world unhappy with the outcome and the knives would be out. I am still of the opinion that before Bosman young players were trapped into what amounted to slavery. Dundee United in particular used to tie young players into contracts that were very onesided.

Hello everybody- Who is this mob (Viaplay) i have always had BT sport on my Virgin media package and reluctantly subscribed to Sky sports over the Xmas holidays. So i will not be watching the Scotland game against Cyprus on Saturday or some Scottish Cup games later as i will not pay more for Viaplay. Sorry for the rant, just out of order.

Funny old game- IT IS NOT.🙄

Viaplay were formerly premier sports, once again we get shafted as our national team is on a pay to view channel. England are on channel 4 and Wales on s4c and yet we've got to pay £14.99 a month.
