Passing of Bobby Shanks

Robert (Bobby) Shanks passed away, after a short illness, probably early February. He was a regular in the corner of the Melbourne cafe. If memory serves, his bike was a 500cc Triumph Tiger.

Oh I remember Bobby Shanks - he was one of the more “mature” corner guys when I started work in the Melbourne at weekends. Condolences to his family and friends.

That's right Meg. He was a "cool" guy. Usually smiling or laughing and a great sense of humour. He and Bruce Bain were good mates.

Heard Bruce was living in the Middle East these days, maybe Dubai. Christine Milne and I were talking about Bobby last week - and we were trying to remember who he married - and I kind of half remembered it was Irene Roe, but I’m probably totally wrong.

Alice Roe, twin of Helen, married Billy Shanks, I think, and he died some time ago. Irene, again, I think, was the younger sister of the twins.
