CASUALTY OF WAR
21 JANUARY 1916

Died on service, Private JOHN TORRANCE BRADIE, (18), 2nd Battalion Black Watch – Theatre of war, Persian Gulf – son of Mr and Mrs Michael Bradie, Golf House, Saltcoats.

The Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald previously reported: -

“Mr Michael Bradie, professional and greenkeeper to the Ardrossan and Saltcoats Golf Course Company, has received official notice that his son, Private Peter Bradie has been missing since 21 January. He was serving with the Expeditionary Force in the Persian Gulf.

Private Bradie, who was only eighteen years of age, joined the Army in May last. At the time of his enlistment he was employed at Nobel’s factory, but formerly was engaged on the golf course along with his father. He was very well known by all the golfers of the district, and was a remarkably good player, and agave promise of becoming a very creditable addition to the ranks of professional golfers in Scotland.

His father, who resides in the Golf House, Saltcoats, will be glad to receive any information regarding his son from any persons who are with the forces operating in the Persian Gulf.”
