When the pace begins tae quicken
And the hert begins tae thump
When every lug's cocked up tae listen
In yer throat there comes a lump
For as often as ye have heard him
Bob McNeish ye have tae admit
Fills yer hert clear tae the brim
Wae a moralising warm pawky wit
Bob auld haun, ye ken yer Burns'
Dow nor Currie'll ever outclass you
I've heard a few, whose fancy turns
Never rang as sincere, nor as true
This I'll say, I can't say more
You've got the real auld Scot's grace
Don't ever change it, I do implore
Yer a credit tae the human race
Weel kent, and very much admired
Oor able president, is Wullie Reid
And we who need tae be inspired
Wullie's the boy if yer in need
We had twa greats, in Charley and Bob
What could he do, but follow ditto
Sleeves up, getting on wae the job
"Nae bother at aw" is his motto
But when it comes tae takin notes
George Tedford has nane tae fear
Quality and truth, he only quotes
It's a mastermind we have here
Unassuming, always lending a hand
Never far off when he is needed
In a quiet way, seems tae understand
That sound advice, is always heeded
And there's few, I'm sure can outclass
Jimmy Howie, and his canny wit
He's the boy who watches the brass
And keeps us frae the sheriffs writ
So dinna daur tamper wae oor cash
Jimmy's for ever on his toes
Nor will he stand any ones snash
Even I'm sure, if it came to blows
The love 0 Rabbie's a tempting lure
For every Scottish hert that throbs
A friend, a guide, to all I'm sure
His words and music, the hert absorbs
So when again we all shall meet
In that wee lounge, up the stair
Tho tired and weary, jist tak a seat
We all have quite a lot to share

Bob McNeish, if I remember right, was a lovely, obliging wee man. He was the Burgh "something", I just can't bring back his title, - "foreman" or something like that. In any event, if Saltcoats Burgh property wasn't functioning properly or damaged he was your man.
Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.
