Your Weans
When old King Sol is feeling droll
And rains begin to splatter
The drookit wains, with muddy stains
Come thro the hoose a' clatter
Your pride and joy, will you annoy
As thro the door they enter
And, you'll try with a smile that wry
To keep your flaming temper
Now don't you rush, lay doon that brush
They are only wains
Just -running loose thro the hoose
They're only playing trains.
Wee Bob will shunt, gie Dave a dunt
Jean they have for freight
So just sit a while, learn to smile
You only have to wait
Don't be brash, life's just a flash
This hoose will aye be hame
Sweet joys of youth, and their simple truth
Will never bring you shame
Their wee bit toys, and childish joys
Their wee bit happy song
Keep them near, they're all so dear
It never last ow're long
Too soon comes the day, they drift away
To leave you so It seems
And your magic touch that meant so much
To all their childish dreams
They won't regret, nor ever forget
When they were only wains
How you stood aside with loving pride
Watching them play at trains.
