Thanks folks for your messages, all very much appreciated. Aye Meg, now officially an OAP and to mark it we took a trip down to Ardrossan and Clyde Terrace. Lots of memories today and all good ones. Campbell

Re: Ardrossan - On This Day In History

I was sorry to read of Edith MacArthur's passing. She used to come into our office when she was in Ardrossan visiting her mother and brother and a very pleasant lady she was too. In the mid-80's I saw her in a play in Edinburgh acting with Walter Carr and John Grieve. Sadly, all of them gone now.

Re: Intimations 10 January 2018

I'm really sorry to read this about Elsie, Meg and thanks for posting. Not seen her for a good few years and the last time we chatted she was living on the corner of Clyde Terrace and Millglen Road.

I know it's an age thing but these sad events are all I seem to hear about these days :(

Re: Bird Habits !!

Every year two wood pigeons nest in the tree here but every year magpies get the eggs. Yesterday, I could see two chicks so, for the first time in 9 years, they’ve been able to fend off the attacks. Just hoping though that the magpies don’t get them now they’ve hatched.

Re: Ardrossan - On This Day In History

Thanks Meg, I also see the likeness. Laurence, I wasn’t aware of the article so that’s another for the collection, thank you very much. My great-grandparents, Donald Morrison and Euphemia Fletcher had moved to Ardrossan from Tighnabruaich. Donald was a sailor, couldn’t get much work locally, and jus...

Re: Ardrossan - On This Day In History

Thanks for this, Laurence. Alexander (Sandy) Morrison who was one of the four survivors was my great uncle. He was born in 25 Montgomerie Lane and the family later 'flitted' to number 144 in the same street. From around 1910, he moved from being a labourer to working the harbour tugs and in 1920, jo...

Re: Ardrossan - On This Day In History

Interesting to read about Edith McCarthur. When I worked in Ardrossan around 1970 or 71 she used to come in to the office, sometimes with her brother. She lived at that time in Richmond but used to travel up to visit her mother who was still in the town. We liked her a lot, very pleasant and courteo...
