Alan, when I lived in Ardrossan, there used to be a guy who had a micro light who flew over regularly - we always joked that he was in a bath tub, did you fly in something like that?

Hi Meg,

haha, no bathtubs involved, I fly a paramotor

I posted a video on youtube a while ago of a flight we had around largs, this will give you a better idea of what paramotoring is. The video shows a friend taking off (i'm taking the video) it then switches to me in flight.

more pics too, enjoy

Fantastic Alan - I embedded your youtube video in the message - if you need additional info on this, Hughie has accumulated a few "how to do's" here http://www.threetowners.net/forum/viewt ... f=4&t=9307. Really love the pictures though - do you sit on a sling attached to the parachute? How is it powered. Look out George I might just have found a new hobby!!!!!

With some extra fuel, do you think we could make it as far as Hughie's hoose in Oz???

Hi Meg,
Yes, it is a kind of sling, it's a canvas harness with straps running over your shoulders, across your chest and a strap around each leg. the harness is attached to the engine on your back, a small 2-stoke with a dirty big propeller on it. you have a throttle in your hand. pressing the throttle about halfway keeps you at level flight, more throttle makes you climb, less throttle makes you drop. it's a great sport.

the tank lasts just over 2 hours but with the wind blawn'a'hoolie like it is today I could probably make Hughie's hoose no problem.... without the engine :)

Hi Al
Thanks for the photographs, the scenery is fantastic we don't know how lucky we are. I could watch the clips all day and kid on you are up in the sky it must be a great feeling. Just watch Meg will be wanting you to teach her how to do it. We could get her sponsored.
Thanks
Aileen

Hi Alan, welcome to the 3T's. The aerial photos are fantastic and the colours are amazing, it's fascinating to see the three towns from a different perspective.
