Thought I might as well post these for completeness' sake. Starting with this one, the Classics contest team seen in March 1975 with Dr Nisbet.

I'm confident the female pupil seven in from the left in the back row is Fiona Buchanan who lived at Burns Terrace, Ardrossan; less confident that the one extreme right in the front row is her sister Anne; and I'm wondering if the male pupil extreme left in the back row is Sam Hunter who lived at Dalry Road, Ardrossan.

First left in the front row is Elspeth Partridge (Andrew Partridge the rector's daughter)
Third from left front is Christine Cairns.

Moving on now to the next photo; this shows the Girls' Choir which won the Sandyford Trophy at the Ayrshire Music Festival in March 1975.

This next picture shows individual and ensemble winners at the Festival.


I think that may be Christine Cairns holding the trophy; she won the Howard de Walden Silver Challenge Cup for her singing.

Some more of the results :

Lorna McDougall ( daughter of Mrs McDougall the music teacher ) won the McGill Cello Prize. She also combined with Stewart Logan and Catherine Pickering to win the violincello ensemble; and with Wendy Hetherington of Ayr ( no prizes for guessing whose daughter she was ! ) to win the violin and piano duets.

Helen and Sheila McIntyre were prizewinners in the piano duets.

Christine Wilson was first in vocal solos for girls under 16.

And Susan Young came second behind Christine Cairns in vocal solos for girls aged 17.

The Academy also won the Brand Orchestral Trophy, and were first in the instrumental and vocal ensemble and the pupil-conducted choir.

The school held a concert to showcase its Festival successes, and here finally is a picture of some of the members of the orchestra on that occasion. You'll notice some of those in the previous picture are here too.
