Here's the BBC story on the Kandy Bar win:
More: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-25751948A North Ayrshire bakery has beaten off competition from 100 butchers and bakers to be crowned World Scotch Pie champion.
The Kandy Bar of Saltcoats also took a silver award for its large apple tart and three bronze awards.
Re: World Scotch Pie Champions
That is the first place I like to visit when back there. I order cakes first, 1 meringue, 1 pineapple tart, 1 strawberry tart and a fruit cake for Jimmy. Then I ask for the pies. I will have to give the pies their special place the next time.

Re: World Scotch Pie Champions
That reminded me of meeting you and Jimmy at the pipe band championship in Geelong all those years ago, Irene, and Jimmy brought a trailer load of Scotch pies down from Sydney and sold the lot before we got there. Nice to see your posts, Irene.

Personally I prefer a Cornish paste.

Best Bakers ever, never miss a Saturday sitting in for a wee bite then heading to the counter for my goodies: box of fresh cream cakes, fruit scones, crumpets and tattie scones for my Sunday breakfast nae wonder I'm putting on the pounds.

Does anyone know at the competition were the pies served hot or cold ? I have never eaten a pie from the Candy bar, so from those who have are they better hot or cold? Personally I usually avoid such foods as there is a likelihood that a disgruntled employee will spit in the mix.
Re: World Scotch Pie Champions
Hi Siamese7, hot or cold these pies are to die for, add some mushy peas, goes down a treat. Sherlock

Personally I have never found the pies that great, or the cakes. I get my cakes from Sainsbury.5siamese7 wrote:Personally I prefer a Cornish paste.
Back in the summertime I was in with a friend. Took so long to get served we got up and walked out. I commented on it (NEVER one to go quietly) to a member of staff who could not have cared less.
One to avoid Bill.
