THE MISHAP TO THE STEAMER DUCHESS OF HAMILTON

Hands were busy overnight putting to rights the damage done the Duchess of Hamilton on her passage from Arran to Ardrossan on Tuesday evening; and yesterday morning she took up her run, and made it in the usual good time.

The day was one of the stormiest of the season and on that account she did not go to Campbeltown as advertised, but otherwise she was up to time in all respects.

ARDROSSAN BOWLING TOURNAMENT

Greater interest was manifested in this tournament on Saturday, and the attendance of visitors was largely in excess of the preceding day. The weather was fine, but a strong breeze blowing across the green was at times troublesome.

AGRICULTURAL NOTES

The cutting of a 20 acre lot of oats was commenced yesterday at Boydstone, in Ardrossan parish. This is probably the first of the corn harvest in the northern district of Ayrshire, but in several other localities grain shows the golden tinge, and is now nearly ready for the reaper.

In the Ardrossan district, bordering on West Kilbride, the second early potatoes are likely to prove a good crop.
