Lovely Clyde Coast Film 1950s

Post by Hughie »

Some lovely colour film on the Clyde from the 1950's in three parts - it was released in 1959. In it you'll see the Waverley and the Queen Mary II.

I'm sorry these are no longer available. But there's a DVD available on Amazon at this time (2022)

Great stuff Hughie - wonderfully nostalgic of the places and the period. It was also interesting to hear Bernard Braden again.
I'm still saving up for a signature.

Brilliant film Hughie but it should carry a health warning for ex-pats. They'll need a box of paper hankies before settling doon tae watch it. It contains a thousand memories.
Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.

Oh what a wonderful treat that was. I was sitting at work taking a break, and my feet were tapping and I found myself singing. (Not too loud as nobody looked at me). Imagine if you'd seen someone you knew in that film!! Largs, and Arran and Millport, all places I've visited. Bernard Braden narrated it so well, and I could feel the pride in my country welling up. And also the nostalgia for a time gone by. Oh the memories it brought back to me of my parents and brother. Thanks so much for putting it on the site. It has made my week.

you can get this on dvd its called Doon The Watter, I have had it for about five years I bought in in a shop in Nottingham, It has a very nice commentary by Bernard Braden, well worth the money.

Loved it Hughie, took me right back, loved the fashions the skip bunnets my Dad use to wear
how every one on the steamers were in their best coats and hats and the scenery you tend to forget
when you move away. :(
