If you look behind the hotel, you'll notice that the arch of the station has been demolished. This photo must be from the time that the old station was used as a carpark, before they took it down.

And so did I. My favourite was visiting the tea bar (where one had to stand up), buy a pie or two and a cup of hot Boveril/Oxo while waiting for a train (late as usual) to puff its way to Saltcoats.
