Quiz question
What would you consider the most misspelt word on Threetowners, or maybe it's just the most mistyped word, or maybe, I suspect, just Manbear's nostalgic preference to spell it this way?

SALCOATS

Re: Quiz question
I’m not sure about this forum, but in general I’d say it would be people using there, their and they’re incorrectly. My pet hate is people using loose instead of lose.

Re: Quiz question
I should perhaps have said that I don't care how anybody spells anything on this forum, it's more important to post than to worry about misspelling, mistyping, etc. I just stumbled across 'Salcoats' having mistyped it myself.

Re: Quiz question
I remember some time ago posting about my prefered mince meat pies. Honest, it was the 'n' on my keyboard that got stuck and it turned out to be mice meat pies. I was soon told.

I don't use it but some sites I've been on use predictive text...you end up not having a clue about what you just wrote!

Re: Quiz question
I could be completely wrong. If you asked people in Scotland, who have never lived in the Threetowns, How you spell Ardrossan at least 50% will answer this.

My youngest son who is dyslexic, always uses loose. He is forever spelling words ending te, et. For instance minute he will spell it minuet. It’s the usual words all the time. So I tend not to be so negative on most folks spelling. And you pick on who you think might be dyslexic along the way

Re: Quiz question
I must confess, I'm more than a bit obsessive about (my own) spelling.
Thanks to the wee red and white spelling book in primary school. Who doesn't remember that and having to learn five words every night to be tested the following morning ???
I agree wholeheartedly with all the comments on here along the lines of 'who the devil cares.'
On a parallel note, I can get in a knot about some folks punctuation, - or lack of it. Sometime I have to read it a couple of times to make sense of it.
Morag,
predictive text drives me absolutely nuts.
JD.
On a completely non-politically-correct note, - for which I truly apologise - this reminds me of a joke from way back.
Teacher: now for the spelling test. Mary, spell dog.
Mary; D O G, Miss.
T. : very good. : John, spell, cat
John: C A T, Miss.
T. : Very good. Sambo, spell Czechoslovakia.
- Had to look that one up.
