I note the wheelie bins still say Grants. To-day I walked to West Kilbride and visited the museum Its well worth a visit it has a large collection of wild birds eggs which of course was from the bad old days. Some remarkable photographs one in particular of a dead relative posed as though she were still alive. Even had a tawse and although the curator put her hands out I demonstrated it on myself. A lot of interesting clothes and I would encourage anyone to pay it a visit. I was even invited back and you don't have to walk there as there is plenty of public transport.

Trying best as I can to replace images hijacked by Photo - bucket. So in relation to the Grant Arms I've re-uploaded to one of the late Bobbydarg's posts a couple of really old photos of the Grants given to him by the previous owner, Mary. Hughie, the second photo that Robert posted of the pub there almost had me fooled into thinking I was looking at two separate buildings altogether, before realising that when it was the 'Burns Tavern' it had some structural changes done to the roof/attic at some point - effectively turning that space into a separate floor above the pub itself.

Me too. I didn't realise it was the same building.

Here they are alongside each other:
ADDED
From the Kilmarnock Herald April 23, 1948
Certificate for the Grant Arms (formerly the Burns' Tavern), 90 Boglemart Street, Stevenston,
was granted to William Ross Grant, son of the former licence-holder.
The police report stated that the name was being changed for sentimental reasons.

Note the width of the pavement in front of the Burns Tavern, and the width now
Re: The Grants - Now McGlone's
Noticed from the bus yesterday that the McGlones have a sign saying: "Food Coming Soon". This may attract me.

Called in there to-day from my walk from Ardossan and it is very nice and I would recommend it. However they are having trouble finding a chef. They are talking about pub grub here and yet no joy with a chef.
Re: The Grants - Now McGlone's
Had a couple of pints in the grants last night, in my eyes it hasn't changed a bit. Still has a great pint of tennents.
Those wimin were in the nip.
