Re: Bird Habits !!
I like a chicken curry does that count . No seriously in my garden there are loads of stukies, hedge sparrows a couple of great tits and collared doves.
I don't like the bigger birds magpies and gulls are the worst. They just seem to bully all the other birds so I tend to hunt them if I get the chance.

Used to have loads of birds here, now few. I like to watch the tiny hummingbirds gather moss / other soft stuff and spider webs to make their nests. Have had several nest in the garden, fearless wee things.

Every year two wood pigeons nest in the tree here but every year magpies get the eggs. Yesterday, I could see two chicks so, for the first time in 9 years, they’ve been able to fend off the attacks. Just hoping though that the magpies don’t get them now they’ve hatched.

Re: Bird Habits !!
last year I saw a Maggie come out of a fir tree at the bottom of the garden with a woodpigeon's egg in its beak. However the woodies usually have two clutches and do manage to rear a brood. Even the weaned birds can be in trouble from sparrow hawks. This year a robin that had nested in the wall lost her eggs to a Maggie. There are too many corvids about . A carrion crow has its eye on a collard dove's nest but is too big to get at it. The crow family are a successful species but are causing havoc with other birds.

Re: Bird Habits !!
I know zero about birds. Up into a month ago i had about four black and white birds hanging around my back garden. I looked on google images and most came up with magpies as canfactory had in his gairden. Now bonzo has seen swallows in his gairden and after looking at more images it could well be swallows.

Re: Bird Habits !!
Just gave my birds their brekkie. Bad enough when I open the door, they all appear in a cloud.
One gull at the moment appears far more intelligent than the others. He has worked out that if he comes across to where the magpies n pigeons are fed, he can bag himself extra snax.
He was also carefully watching me bin paper the other day.
