JD,

This query cropped up before and I think it was decided it was a former church hall, half way down New Street, opposite the cemetery.

Hi JD
You can see the location on this map. Left side, centre. Stevenston Burn is written in the margin.

It used to be the Free Church until a new one was built.
The most important hour is always the present, the most significant person is the one opposite you right now, and the most necessary deed is always love. - Meister Eckhart (c.1260 - c.1328)

Thanks PT and Hahaya.
Now I see it, I remember the previous thread.
Just spent nearly half an hour going over that map, (just like I did the last time).
I found our first house in Townhead St. and my grandparents' house which was on the other side of the road.
There are two stones marked on there, next to the burn. Wonder what happened to them.
There was no mention of anything like that when we were weans.
And would you look at all the railway lines that there were. Stevenston was a real hive of industry then.
God, what they could have made of it with a bit of foresight.

JD.
