STEVENSTON THISTLE v. IRVINE


In presence of a large number of spectators these teams met at Stevenston. Irvine scored 1 goal shortly after the start, and although the local team worked hard, they did not succeed in scoring in the first half.

On changing ends Stevenston attacked vigorously, putting on 3 goals inside 20 minutes. Irvine scored a second goal and the home team followed with a fourth.

The game resulted: - Thistle, 4 goals; Irvine, 2 goals.

KILMARNOCK STROLLERS v. STEVENSTON THISTLE 2nd XI

At Kilmarnock, and resulted in favour of the ground team by 4 goals to 2.

FOOTBALL – AYR CHARITY CUP – FIRST ROUND
ANNBANK v. STEVENSTON THISTLE


This tie was played on Somerset Park, Ayr, in presence of a large gathering of spectators.

Annbank, who had a strong team played with the wind in their favour, and scored six goals to one scored by the Thistle. During the second half the Thistle increased their score by two other goals, the Annbank failing to score.

The game thus resulted in favour of the latter by 6 goals to 3.

ARDEER GOLF CLUB

The competition for the monthly medals took place on Saturday, when there was a good turnout of members.

Stuart Foulie won the Heys Medal and R. McLelland was the winner of the Robertson Medal.

At Stevenston

The visitors commenced well, scoring two goals inside fifteen minutes. Thereafter play was more equally divided, but in the first half the local team did not manage to get a point.

On changing ends Thistle made a strong attack and had most of the play, putting on five goals. Just before the whistle blew Mauchline put on a third goal.

Score – Thistle, 5 goals; Mauchline, 3 goals.

STEVENSTON PARISH CHURCH

The kirk session are about to begin the erection of a mission church in the Ardeer district of the parish, where the population has within recent years greatly increased and is still quickly growing.

The church, which will be constructed of iron to a tasteful design, containing 300 sittings, is expected to be opened, free of debt, by the end of May.

A probationer is to be appointed to take charge of the mission, and the kirk session are taking steps to form a short leet to preach in the parish church, with a view to making an appointment.
