On Saturday Major Ellis and Captain Moore, who are inquiring into court-house accommodation in Scotland, visited Saltcoats and Ardrossan.
They inspected the court-houses and police stations at these places.

SALTCOATS NEW ESPLANADE
Saltcoats Town Council are pressing L. M. & S. Railway Company to initiate the construction of a sea wall and formation of a roadway and footwall on the East Shore as specified in the Glasgow & South-Western Railway Order of 1918.
The work must be completed by August 1928, and it is understood a meetings between representatives of the company and Council have already taken place, and that a further meeting is to be convened soon.

THEFT OF AN ASS
At Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, THOMAS ACKISON, an assistant showman, pleaded guilty to the theft of an ass from a field on the farm of Brewery, Saltcoats, on the 6th instant, and was sentenced to ten days’ imprisonment.

Yes Meekan, you're right. It's Canal Street. It used to be called Sandylands or Canal Street.

MERCHANTS’ MEETING
The annual meeting of the merchants of Saltcoats, Stevenston, and Ardrossan was held on Tuesday in the Saracen’s Head Hotel, Saltcoats – Mr John Dickie presiding.
It was arranged that holidays be held annually on the third Wednesday of August and the second Wednesday of June.
The treasurer reported that after paying all expenses there remained a balance of £6.
The following office-bearers were elected: - President, Mr John Dickie; Secretary, Mr D. Brown; treasurer, Mr M. Lee; and Messrs William Guthrie and Jean Hogarth, junior, were added to the committee.
