OCCUPYING DWELLING-HOUSE WITHOUT OBTAINING A CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY

At Saltcoats Burgh Court yesterday, WILLIAM MUIR, writer, as law agent for the representatives of the late Samuel Adams, mason, Saltcoats, was charged with a contravention of the Burgh Police Act by permitting a new building in Springvale Street to be occupied after a certificate had been refused by the Burgh Surveyor.

Several preliminary pleas having been stated by Mr. Muir, who appeared for himself, and repelled by Provost Smith, proof was led, and after a protracted hearing the charge was found proven, and a fine of two guineas imposed.
