Re: Arran ferry
Abp are set to meet with the Arran folk in December to discuss a Troon route. Not looking good.

Re: Arran ferry
The haddock of a Conservative MSP Jamie Greene ........put his full backing behind the Ardrossan Ferry and stated the how much needed was "from Ardrossan to Troon sailing"
Reminded me just where is the Conservative Office in Ardrossan?
He edited it later but ,
I'll give £10 to Save the Children , if someone posts the first edit of it

I left the rest alone,
It to me is astounding that he stay about Greenock and hasn't a clue where the boats sail to and from, and that he appear to never have ventured to Arran
and OT the difference in votes he got for the Westminster and Holyrood was 5......

Re: Arran ferry
There are at least 7863 of them(7968** at the GE)Show me a North Ayrshire tory
I said there were 5 more but it was 105 , error was due to me using BBCs figures of 7963/68
****Interesting was the controversy in the over votes lost and soaked in the 2007 election on the Arran-Ardrossan Crossing
He stood for Westminster and he stood for Holyrood Failed in the FPTP system and got a third on the Additional Member System (AMS) at Holyrood which got him a placeYou'll need to explain.

Reserved Matter the Scottish Parliament has nothing to do with these matters as it is dealt with at Westminster
Yet Greene got up an criticised the Scottish Administration for something that is solely down to his Party and WM

Re: Arran ferry
Absolutely no one has touched on this,
The Troon lot, will be seeking money for improving the port,
I wonder if they would be wanting the money "up Front" as they say, the correct term would be "Front Load the Contract"
This was used in the 80s within many contracts
Consider this,
The Troon port owners don't have any relationship with the area, save for owning a bit of land and making a profit out of it( which it doesn't at the moment as far as I can tell)
Which leaves me with this one, IF Troon was to be considered at all and I see little reason for that decision, Should it not be " Compulsory Purchased " and taken into public ownership ?
Inherent problems with that one, the owners will be wanting top money when the value of the port is at bottom level,
Still as that would be at the Administration level of Government at least the SNP wouldn't be entertaining the Labour/Tory nonsense of PFI/PPI deals
( well what did you expect it's a Monday morning)

Re: Arran ferry
Just a thought from an expat. 160+ jobs lost for an area with limited employment already is a big loss. I understand that the funding from Troon to provide fascilities is a teaser but what of the long term. People have already mentioned that the station is far enough away to be an issue for travellers. I hope Ardrossan is providing a similar funding arrangement to try and beat Troon. Having lived in Saltcoats for the first 24 years of my life Cal-Mac have provided the area with employment and the harbour has provided Cal-Mac with solid fascilities I dont understand what has changed. I hope they stay and I hope the port does what it can to try and save the ferry.
