"blue star garage" complete revamp
Noticed over the last few months, a bit of work getting carried out at the now, jet petrol station
but thought they were maybe building a carwash at the back of the garage, but no, the old petrol station has been knocked down, and the new build is to the back. Throwing a bit of money at it considering morrisons along the road is far far busier.

Half of it is going to be a Subway. It will probably do pretty well to be honest, Subway is quite popular. It will be interesting to see what the new set up is, the old building had a Costa Coffee machine which must have been making a small fortune. They were also doing parcel collections and drop offs.

Interesting read ebbe. I'm seldom in there these days but I'll probably have a wee nosey once the current work is completed.ebbe_skovdahl wrote:There's an article here about it.

Mind you, I wish the 'Scottish Grocer' had at least taken the time get the spelling of 'Stevenston' right!

I know that I've been very critical about the state of the three toons in the past, and was never backward about coming forward with my opinions.
But this warms the cockles of my heart.
I can't let it go by without making a comment though. Mahmood is not exactly a born and bred Stevenstonian. And before anybody gets on their racial soap box, I mean, I wish to goodness some of them had his gumption, ambition and go-for-it attitude and I wish we had another hundred like him.
Strength to his arm and the next time I need petrol when I'm home, I know where I'm going.
JD.

It’s always a busy store - especially late evening.
The “Ice Cream Parlour” is interesting. One has opened in Irvine (Vanilla joes), and it’s always very busy in the evenings.
Surely somewhere like the Melbourne or Cavanis could tap into that market - there’s really very few places to get a nice coffee in the 3 towns after 4 o clock.
I passed the Melbourne today, and there’s a sign up saying they’re going to be redeveloping part of it in the autumn.

Doesn't happen at the Subway at Heathfield or at Ayr Central Bonzo - clean site and no feeding left about for seagulls. Stevenston can't be that different.bonzo wrote:The only downside will be subway wrappers everywhere.

It’s always had a “costa express” - but that’s just a vending machine.
