Re: Ospreys - down under
I'm taking it that pole / nesting area is set up specifically? Where would they nest otherwise? Larger bird's nests seem almost impossible to house young, a conglomeration of random sticks.

Re: Ospreys - down under
Hi y'all
When I worked up in Dampier [WA] I drove a "stacker" a machine three stories high with a small cabin at the the top
ran on rails. a pair of Ospreys built their nest on the roof two feet above my head it was quite something to hear the "scrabble" of those big talons on the iron roof i wish I had a video camera to film them swooping down to the bay
then see them coming back up a few minutes with a big snapper and then the screeching of the young and the slap of the snappers tail on the roof. The birds completely ignored me but its an experience i will never forget.
cheers jim.

Re: Ospreys - down under
The Ospreys look to have abandoned the man-made structure depicted in the earlier photos - you can see right through its wooden slats. They seem to have taken up residence at the mouth of the river on the beacon lighthouse - while I was there one arrived with a stick and landed beside its mate. Location
