Awesome Sea Power

Post by Retsum »

The best demonstration of sea power I have seen was not in Scotland but in Australia and since there are lots of expats here perhaps it is o.k. to show the images. These were taken at a place called The Gap on the south coast of Western Australia, near Albany.

Can anyone beat these?

Nature creates amazing sculptures, don't know where chris obtained the croc image on Millport but one that I always remember is " Lion Rock".

Two views of another demonstration of the action of sea and wind. These are the Pinnacles, located about 100 miles north of Perth near a hamlet called Cervantes. Hundreds of millions years ago the whole area was seabed formed of a mixture of limestone (from crustacean shells) and sandstone. When the sea receded, over a periond of millions of years, the sandstone was preferentially eroded and these limestone pillars are left standing and eroding more slowly. The area is vast.

It's an amazing atmosphere.

I'd think our own Staffa and giant's causeway might fit the bill.
