We have a Library

Post by Hughie »

With the rise of social media I was heartened to see this post the other day in the phpbb.com forum:
I see Facebook and Twitter as though they are daily newspapers. What's written today is in the bin tomorrow. No-one is interested. Forums are more like libraries. You go there for information that will still be there tomorrow for you to go back to. We need daily newspapers. We need libraries. They can both live with each other.

This brought a smile to my face Hughie. The analogy really rings true.

As always, John. Database backups are done on a regular bases through the server's control panel and also manually by me through phpmyadmin and stored in a couple of places including my home safe. :)

Sad times re: libraries. In Scotland, they are sadly becoming more like community hubs.

Cannot beat a good old read at a newspaper sometimes, or a good old book to read.

Facebook can unfortunately fill up with a vast array of rubbish. As, indeed, can Twitter.

It is just a sign of the times. :-(
