A crime prevention campaign for Ayr County included a contest for schools, and here are some of the local pupils from St Michaels' and Auchenharvie who were winners in 1972 :

Re: Schools crime prevention contest winners early 1970s
It becomes a bit clearer what the competition was about when you come to 1973; an article then detailed the successes of Ardrossan Academy pupils in designing crime prevention posters.
First place in the over-16 section went to Fiona Love of the Academy, and over and above that her poster was declared the best in the history of the competition and selected for use in a publicity campaign by Ayrshire Police. Here she is with her poster and Mr Partridge, rector of the school ( Fiona actually came from Largs, but Mr Partridge legitimises the picture ).
The Academy also had the runner-up in this section, Carol Strong ( daughter of Mr Strong the art teacher ). Meanwhile in the under-16 section Adriana Klapwyk was second, and Lesley Muir and Caryll Baird received Certificates of Merit.
