It occurred to me later that if Hogg had made it over the line at the end to make it 22-22, Finn Russell would have had a really awkward conversion which would either have a) left him as the man who "lost" the game, or b) given him the likely highest point of his entire career, but with most of his international days still ahead of him.

Yep but Australia a man down . However this time they were outclassed and good to see. The Aussies really take their rugby seriously so must have really hurt.

Australia take all their sports seriously! Not always gracious losers either.

The red card was definitely warranted though and we also lost arguably the best full back in world rugby right now to a pre match injury. Hopefully with a fit laidlaw and hogg we can put up a challenge in the 6 nations.

Can't help but think that Russell has grown noticeably in Laidlaw's absence, and Ali Price at Scrum Half has shown a physical presence that's just not in Laidlaw's game. It would be very sad, but I think Greg Laidlaw may well be on the bench a lot in February/March, and then not at all.

Never really thought about laidlaw not getting back in the team but aye that's a good shout exile. There is also henry prygos for scrum half and he's in his mid 20s as well.

Looking forward to it, it's very open so many injuries across all teams. I will give my yearly fiver to Ladbrokes tomorrow on Scotland winning the 6 nations, one year I'll get something back :good:

Too much bumming before the game and what a game. Scotland were destroyed lets hope they learn from this and give a better showing against France.

Agreed our defence had more holes than a Swiss cheese. A far cry from the team that played the autumn tests.

So disappointed about that- We will do well now just to avoid the "wooden spoon"
