G'day billymac ,

Welcome to oor threetowner lounge , pull up a chair an' make yersel at hame ...
I remember as a pupil at St Peters Ardrossan , I somehow managed to get one of my paintings exhibited in Saltcoats Town Hall ...

Unfortunately I never pursued my painting skills any further after leaving school , except for studying at Ayr Technical College for a year , with the view of becoming a tradesman signwriter ...
I ended up workin' as an apprentice plumber in Ardrossan Shipyard ...
and that was the end of my artistic painting career ....

( 'am a dab haun at paintin' and decoratin' )
though a dinnae think ah'd be allowed anywhere near the ceilin' o' the Sistine Chapel ...

( widnae mind haein' a go at paintin' a barra , but we've got a resident barra painter as a member , an' a don't want tae upset him , as a might miss oot oan a scrumptious , slice an' black puddin' breakfast in august ... )

I have always appreciated art ...
and would be interested in enjoying any personal art work posted by threetowners members ...
please start the ball rollin' and post some of your works and hopefully others will follow ...

I appreciated that (maybe others will do the same ) I see that we are both left Ayrshire in the same year ……1963. We are indeed “peas from the same pod”. Have you enjoyed living in, down under –what do you miss the most? For me it is not being able to walk along the shore and see “paddies mile-stone” or Arran.

Wid’n’t it be brilliant if we could be in twa places at the wan time ,
but that’s literally impossible …but it is literally possible , fur twa places tae be in us at the wan time …
( We may have left Scotland pal … but Scotland's never left us ! ) an' never will !

I agree wae yer peas in a pod .. we’re fortunate tae be able tae deal wae personal emotions , via oor individual artistic pursuits …
Yersel oan canvas an’ masel in prose … an added bonus is bein’ able tae share oor works and feelin’s wae others o’ the same ilk …
( oor ain folk ! ) … if they're interested ...

Felt a shiver runnin’ through me , as the music got to me
an’ the bagpipes played “ Amazing Grace “
an’ the pain deep inside , made me forget ma pride
as the tears fell like rain , aff ma face …

When ‘am homesick , there’s nothin’ , yer fair land can gie me
tae forget , a’ ma loved wans at home
lyin’ wakin’ , nae escapin’ , as a feel ma heart breakin’
is this , whit it costs me , tae roam ? …

I absolutely adored the strong sentiments contained in it and I am sure many Scottish exiles will agree with your thoughts - despite fond memories one cannot live totally in the past or one will lose the present and destroy the future. Look forward to the next one Frank.

One of the hardest things to do, after you have created a painting..... is giving the work... a name.East End (girl in blue dress) is a great name thankz John d.
anyone looking at my paintings can suggest a New name to describe the painting. I would appreciate the feedback!

Thank you for sharing. Your paintings are beautiful! 'Holy Island', 'Hexham' and the Waters Edge one with the background view are my favourites. I also enjoyed the ones depicting children. Great facial expressions, especially the little girl in the red coat.

I see "Oor Frank" has already made your aquaintance There's also our multi media artist,(Painter, Photographer,and Comedienne Extraordinare) Josephine aka Raberta. She is a bit preoccupied at the moment with planning and preparing for the "Aussie Reunion", She and Frank are the heart and soul of McBlethers Lounge...well okay, I guess Wee Boney deserves a mention too. . And there are many, many more, too numerous to name here, like JKC.. another great poet! So you see? Thanks to Hughie, our fearless leader, for creating this site.. You're in good company. Enjoy!

Thank you for your kind remarks. Its wonderful receiving feedback regarding my work. Painting is such a lonely activity... just me and the canvas... is also good to see them through other peoples eyes. its refreshing. The girl in the red coat was a friend of mine's daughter ... she has great eyes. Her father loves the painting.
