On today's walk, I made two 'discoveries'.
There are tank traps in Ardrossan Road in Saltcoats near the old Registration Office.
The 'concrete block' at Alpine Stores is a metal cabinet.

I thought it might be. A lot of “paper shops” have boxes like that outside, I think the newspaper delivery people leave stuff there if the shop isn;’t open.

Across from the Stanley George? We used to play a drunken game on them(but that's another story) never knew that was their purpose.George Ardrossan wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 4:24 pm On today's walk, I made two 'discoveries'.

That's right, Bonzo. The trap covers are across the road from the site of the Stanley Hotel, beyond the old Registration Office and before the Iron Bridge.

We have in fact mentioned the tank trap covers in Ardrossan Road before. There are some on the other side of the road too, outside No 68 , and I well remember walking over them every day and thinking nothing of them :
