My cousin, Henry Lee, died tragically on Nov . 22 after being brutally assaulted by a 16 year old boy in Green Street, Saltcoats because he refused to give the lout a cigarette. The assault was filmed on CCTV cameras. He later died in hospital from his injuries without regaining consciuosnes. He was 66 and leaves 4 children and grandchildren. He was a kind, gentile man and did not deserve to die in this way. Brother of Stephen and the late John and Ailsa. RIP Henry.

What an appalling thing to happen, Jean. There was an exactly similar case just recently in the Manchester area. It makes it worse somehow when these young thugs attack on such a whim, over nothing; such a terribly pointless way to lose a much-loved life. Sincere condolences to you and your family.

Thanks Susan. It was a terrible thing to happen to such a nice man. I suppose these guys are on drugs or methadone.

I suppose I'll have to ask the question which is burning a hole in all our minds.
Did they get the boy that did it? I suppose they did as you told us his age.

Yes he has been arrested, but being a minor he probably won't be jailed.

I am so sorry Glenshena. Some of the young are just scum. In fact, in society today, it is more than just some.

And it is the family that need to come to terms with and live with this.

He was simply released on bail JD.

Thank you all for your condolences. It's a hard thing to come to terms with. You wonder from what kind of families these boys come from.
