First Ever Wedding In Ardrossan Castle?

What is thought to be the first ever wedding in Ardrossan Castle took place this afternoon. Peter Semple and Sandra Gain of Irvine were married at this unique venue with the approval of North Ayrshire Council.

The Castle was used between the 1100s and 1600s and some of the nobility who resided there would have had weddings. These would most likely have been held in the the nearby church whose ruins are still visible. Although there are no records to prove it, today's wedding could well have been the first in the Castle.
