Just to add to this.... Go to the last page and you find a note saying testament of Jean Wilson Lochcraigs d 1635? Could have sworn the farm was a 19th century farm?!? Was it rebuilt.
Ayrshire archives section of document is showing a 1635 reference.

Well had a quick look and there was a farm there in medieval times and a new farm building was constructed 50 metres from the old one in the middle of the 19th century. The glenburn is easy to find as it flows between the demolished farm and the golf course. Must take a walk up there soon.

Are you talking about Lochcraigs or Corsankell?5siamese7 wrote:Well had a quick look and there was a farm there in medieval times and a new farm building was constructed 50 metres from the old one in the middle of the 19th century. Pretty sure I came across an 1801 death at Lochcraigs.

Yes. I could see that. That isn't the mystery part of this.

Waded through most of that stuff and all those farms were wee settlements and then became proper farms in the 19th century. Lots of folk lived off agriculture and some would just disappear without being part of any censor.
Re: Corsankell Farm And A Wee Mystery
Thanks. Interesting. I have emailed the national records office to see if I can get a copy of what was in the 1635 testament. Museum told me there will probs be a charge but I may do it anyway.

The street is just about where it sat.

Re: Corsankell Farm And A Wee Mystery
I'm a bit confused now.
Corsankell was Bob Smith's farm and it was above Stevenston beside the Diddup glen.
JD.

Re: Corsankell Farm And A Wee Mystery
As JD states the Corsankel farm was on the way to the Didup and was compulsorily purchase to build the Ardrossan Stevenston bypss. The street is just named after the farm, the farm was more than half a mile from there.
