Seems it belongs to McLaughlin bros and am told they have permission to knock down and use the site for apartments Veronica left it to a dr norton after a fallout with her niece and he sold it on and it was gutted and done up for B and B then sold to developers

How sad for this to be demolished. Seems the Ayrshire way, knock down classic, replace with crap :(

Research into who built the house and when it was built seems to be drawing a blank. Any information regarding anything before the Franciscan Nuns would be most welcome. How long has it been there, original use ?, anything really.

Must have been about 4 years ago, Meekan. Have a look at the second post at the start of this topic.

Under the law on bringing unoccupied properties into use the owner should now be paying 200% council tax on the property and North Ayrshire council can force the owner to do something with this property. Let’s hope this is happening as this house does nothing for the environment, people living close by or encouraging tourism. The owners should be ashamed of themselves and obviously do not care about other people. We need a campaign to get this house restored.
