Talking Wall.

Post by michaelm »

Took these photo's some time ago of the Plaques located on the sea wall close to the shoreline between Winton Circus in Saltcoats and South Beach Ardrossan. Some of them are looking a wee bit weather beaten but I reckon that's only to be expected.
At some point I'll maybe try and get a more expansive view of the general area.

Hopefully there'll be a memory or two here that some can identify with.

Michaelm- Thanks very much for sharing. It must be almost 10 years ago i was admiring the Talking Wall. The misses could not understand how i was so interested reading them all and got told to hurry up. But then again she did not experience the magical place Saltcoats was in the early to mid 70's.

Cheers folks.

bonzo, they're sited on the 'inside' of the sea wall a bit further along from the Apollo cinema towards Ardrossan. There's a wee ramp you can go down, then cycle along the walkway just below the main street where you'll be able to view them.
Just thinking, you must have cycled past there oblivious on at least a thousand occasions. :)

Thanks Michael, I know where you're talking about and you're right I'm always on the road or path but I'll make a point of having a look the next time I pass. Cheers.

These pictures are absolutely brilliant, I never knew these plaques existed until I saw this post a few minutes ago. Some of them date back to the forties and the fifties. Its a pity they did not all have dates on them to give some reference to the time of the writing.
