See on the A&S Herald that it's almost a year since our dear Milda passed away. So sad.
My heart goes out to her family.

Yes Jean, she’s been sadly missed both on FB and here on the 3ts. So sad...

Sitting outside enjoying a shandy- It will be dark soon and starting to shiver. One of my neighbours is cooking up a big curry by the smell of it so strong and not pleasant. I cant wait to go for an Indian when the good times are back... roll on :)

Sorry to see Nicola Sturgeon being harassed outside a polling station by Jayda Fransen. It's incredible that she had no protection and was left to defend herself alone. At our polling stations you always have a policeman and a soldier or two controlling the voters. She could have been assaulted or worse. Our politicians always have a bodyguard present, even two or three depending on their status. Being First Minister, I think it is only right that she should have protection from such fanatics.

Nicola not a favourite of mine but she should have had protection. Sad that she should need it but there’s too many unsavoury things happening, to women in particular. Just because your politics differ is not an excuse for harassment, a favourite saying of mine is “agree to disagree without being disagreeable”

On the other hand Glenshena, it says a lot for our democratic, peace-loving culture that we don't think it necessary to have our politicians protected. As the saying goes, 'you can't legislate for idiots.' Be glad that, unfortunately, there are but just a few around.
Fransen is more to be pitied than laughed at.
We have the same culture here in NL, where PM Marc Rutte cycles from home to the Parliament buildings each day, probably using the same route each day, though I'm sure there is a car with a couple of Secret Service agents not very far away.
We did have a nasty one last year, though it was in the organised criminal circles. The lawyer defending a 'snitch' in a big criminal prosecution, was shot dead in front of his house. This caused the expected terrific uproar in the country as it well should have done.
I'm happy with the idea of unarmed police, and the idea of armed soldiers on the street fills me with horror. Police here are armed, but instances of police using them are almost unheard of, and they certainly do not lead to claims of police brutality and/or unnecessary violence.

The team here worked our socks off - it was a strange and because of covid, a difficult election campaign but the results made it worth while. Siobhian Brown has been an excellent councillor in SAC for the last few years and she’ll be a fabulous MSP.

By the way Brian - celebratory was a can of Fanta! On the wagon these days :(

Do you think its fair that a candidate is able to stand both in the constituency and the list. I think if a candidate is rejected in the constituency they should not be allowed to creep in the backdoor on the list.

I think the whole system of list votes is valid in that all parties should be represented and that your voice should be heard, even if you are a minority, but I agree with you that if you are on the constituency list, you shouldn’t be on the regional list and I would push further with 2 rules - 1. if you are the party leader, you should not be allowed on the regional list - stand or fall with your constituency vote and 2. if you are elected on the list - you should only be allowed a maximum of two terms - you should be forced to stand in a constituency if you want a third term. To many “creepers” in Holyrood - I agree.

It’s been an interesting election….
