I was reminded yesterday of "PEELS" - i.e. to indicate something was equal. I think we used to use it when playing "stones, scissors, paper".
Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.

Having a wee look back at some posts here, realised I was singing ( in my head ) We're no awa tae bide awa lol! Remembered one time after a frustrating but minor argument with my hubby (American), saying ach away and bile yer heid! He stood, shooders back, hands on hips, and said 'No, you go away and boil your own head!' I thought I'd die laughing! Just the other day I was talking to one of my sons and told him when he was about 4 or 5 he said 'timt' as in empty, I was startled, it's not a word I use asked him what it meant and he said 'empty'. :smt102

Stones, scissors, paper is known here as Eazy-Azay-oo.
Just thought you'd need to know that.

Meekan, Sort of affronted to say this. When i was about 12 or 13 me and my pal went into this local supermarket and stuffed 2 or 3 six pack biscuits up our JUKSIE.

Oh Morag,
I'm staunin' in Castle Avenue up the Hayocks, eary '50's, wearin' short troosers held up wi' a snake belt, The sun is beltin' doon and we're playing bools in the street. And I can hear that being said as clear as anything.
Don't know about cat fur oan a dug, but have you ever seen a green dug?
