It's a way of getting gas out of the ground using water blasted at high pressure into the earth. Not very environmentally friendly.

Read in the last few weeks that "fracking" has been banned in Scotland for good which is great news.
In the South Burnett where I live fracking was legally stopped as it was alleged that the underwater bores were being contaminated making it bad for both humans and cattle.
