Note the date

"On the morning of 11 November 1920, the casket was placed onto a gun carriage of the Royal Horse Artillery, drawn by six black horses through silent crowds"

On one of the news channels this morning the Archbishop was relating part of the story and he seemed to be at pains to emphasize that it was an unknown warrior and not a soldier, I'm not 100% sure what he meant.

The below paragraph suggest the use of Warrior as it encompasses soldiers, sailors and airmen

Railton wrote to the Dean of Westminster, the Rt Rev Herbert Ryle, suggesting that an unidentified body, representing the many hundreds and thousands of soldiers, pilots and sailors lost in the conflict, be buried in Westminster Abbey 'amongst the Kings'. The Dean strongly supported the idea, as did Prime Minister David Lloyd George. King George V took longer to be persuaded but, gradually, Railston's idea came to fruition.

Thanks Stivis I sort of thought that was the reason but wondered if there was another story behind it.

The use of the word Warrior? why that?
If it is likened to Samurai the meaning become one of honour, and nobility (not in a royal type sense but in an integrity type)
