The image of the Titan Crane outside Barclay, Curle & Co Ltd. Reminded me that the majority of the marine engineering castings we made at Winton Foundry in Ardrossan were for Barclay Curle. The demise of shipbuilding on the Clyde meant the end of Winton Foundry too. :(

Brilliant ones this week. Meg-Don't want to be greedy

How accommodating of this stag to wander into Kim Gibson's shot from the Kingshouse Hotel in Glencoe just at the right time.

Freedom :)

One thing struck me when I moved to South Ayrshire was that Ailsa Craig was held in the same regard as Arran in the 3 towns - it does dominate their landscape from Turnberry south, and is a lot closer than Arran I suppose - but then Arran doesn’t look like Arran from Ayr  but people do talk about the views of Ailsa Craig often. I remember going in to work in Girvan primary school one morning and two staff members asked me if I’d seen the ‘iced bun’ that morning - ie Ailsa Craig with snow on the top - had to ask what the heck they were talking about

The photo from Lendlefoot is fabulous.

My grandaughter booked a two hour Horse riding jaunt at Brodick last week but it was called off after and hour because of heavy rain. In fact she was drenched to the skin and caught an awful cold as she came back to Saltcoats on the ferry soaked, she had no change of clothes. It should have been cancelled, the agreement was it was to be postponed if bad weather, which was forecast, but it wasn't so she went as planned. She had been so looking forward to it, and to see this lovely photo at Whiting bay made her quite envious.
