N.A.C. in bold renaming move.
Just found out that North Ayrshire Council have recently unveiled plans to scrap the names Ardrossan, Saltcoats and Stevenston and label all three towns together under one new name.
A spokesperson commented .. "N.A.C. realise that this new initiative may not be entirely popular with the public but believe the idea has many merit's to it, among those being the fact that there's virtually no discernible geographical distance between the towns as it stands anyway. We also firmly believe that bringing all three town's together under the one 'umbrella' so to speak, will help to forge a better community spirit, thus leading to a far greater sense of belonging for all those who live in the area."
"In due course we'll be inviting member's of the public to put forward their own suggestions as to what the new amalgamated three town's name might be, although any final decision on that will be made solely by North Ayrshire Council"

A petition has already been put in place by Lady Flora Pois for this not to happen.
Those wimin were in the nip.

Very good Bonzo but this cannot be allowed to happen. In my opinion we are different folk and my loyalty will always be to Stevenston.
Re: N.A.C. in bold renaming move.
Who is this Lady Flora Pois, bonzo?
She can't be all that influential as to date I've never even heard of her.

Some people think that folk who speak in riddles drip from their bottoms.

Actually think the Cooncil is quite mad. Somebody somewhere with too much time on their hands.
How about "Idiotsville" if we continue to have them in charge.

Is that no the same Lady Flora Pois that was in charge of the Titanic enquiry
Idiot - seeks village.
Re: N.A.C. in bold renaming move.
Michael, she is the chair of the highly influential 0104(Scotland) committee in the house of lords, but I'm sure you knew this already
Those wimin were in the nip.
Re: N.A.C. in bold renaming move.
Aye, course I did bonzo, though I'm told she's a bit of an old fool.
I'm sure most of you caught on right away that I invented the story above simply as a wee April Fools Day prank.
My Mammy was forever telling me that I had quite a vivid imagination.
Re: N.A.C. in bold renaming move.
Yes. Well. After all that, here is a REAL story.
The Cooncil are wanting folk to think up names for streets. This is no joke. On ASH facebook page. Some folk are suggesting "Junkie Avenue".

Believe it or not, there was a genuine suggestion that the Three Towns merge, according to the report below from the Scotsman of 19 January 1938.
UNION OF THREE TOWNS PROPOSED – ARDROSSAN, SALTCOATS AND STEVENSTON
At a meeting of Saltcoats Town Council, a motion by Councillor James Reid that the Council invite representations from Stevenston and Ardrossan Town Councils to meet in joint conference to discuss the question of amalgamating the three towns was, on the suggestion of Provost Gaul, remitted to the committee dealing with the burgh boundaries. Provost Gaul said that there were several matters which were not quite ready for public discussion.

So it seems my wacky idea for an April Fool prank wasn't really as far fetched as I thought.
