Ermo Marroni's chip shop

Can anyone tell me the name of Ermo Marconi' s chip shop formerly at the junction of Glasgow St. And Park Rd.?.

I only knew it as Marroni's. Can't recall there being any name above the door. This is the building, taken in 2009.

I don't remember any name on the building either. It was often just referred to as - The top Marroni's - the bottom Marroni's being the Castle Café further down Glasgow Street.

I am sure Maroni's daughter will be able answer this. She is a member here. I never saw any name when I lived there.

Yes you're right, Netta. She is a member of threetowners. She was at our fifteenth year reunion farewell in the restaurant attached to the cinema in Saltcoats - where the Pavilion once stood. Her username is jinit.

I remember the fish and Chip shop at the top of Glasgow street so well,
Best chips in the three towns. One thing that sticks out in my mind , was the line of people waiting for their fish and chips. The delay was usually caused by Ermo heating up the large fryer, which was coal fired.
His method of judging wither the fat was warm enough was to spit on the hot fat , if it bounced off all was ready to cook those fantastic chips. In the 50s {6 pence a good sized Bag}
