This is a lovely piece of film from 1901 showing how dependent we were on the horse and cart. Can anyone tell me what the man wearing what appeared to be riding boots is doing walking up and down?

Perhaps posing for his mate on the camera?

Something missing from this wee film... Horse manure !! Did you notice the guy pushing the bin he would be instructed by the man in the big boots to shovel it up

Interesting film Hugh my Granda was a Carter in Glasgow. He also liked a wee dram and it was not unknown for his horse to take him home on a Saturday night. It seems the family walk on a Sunday always started with a visit to the stables to care for the horse.
