Excuse me for being a bit patriotic, but in these sad days of lockdown, look what Italy has produced in the way of music and scenery. First Andrea Bocelli in a deserted Piazza del Duomo in Milan with Amazing Grace, now Antonio Diodato in the empty Arena di Verona singing Fai Rumore ( make a noise) his contribution for the Eurovison song contest and the winning song at the Sanremo Song Festival beginning of February.

Anyone know what the lyrics of this lovely song are about. I heard it mentioned along the lines of a soldier helping his mate striving to survive after a battle. I suppose this might have been the thoughts with the line,"I know the armour's heavy now"
Eddi Reader really is very special - love her and the song.

Beauty is within grasp
Hear the islands call
The last mile is upon us
I'll carry you if you fall
I know the armour's heavy now
I know the heart is tired
It's beautiful just over
The wild mountainside
Snow is falling all over
Out of clear blue sky
Crow is flying high over
You and I are going to wander
High up where the air is rare
Wild horses ride
It's beautiful, let's go over
The wild mountainside
Wild and free we roam
Only a mile to go
Wild and free we roam
Only a mile to go
Beauty is within grasp
Hear the highlands call
The last mile is upon us
I'll carry you if you fall
I know the armour's heavy now
I know the heart inside
It's beautiful let's go over
The wild mountainside
It's beautiful just roaming
The wild mountainside

Wild Mountainside was written by John Douglas of the Trashcan Sinatras - a band originally from Irvine. He married Eddi Reader in 2013.

Thanks, Bruce. Eddi put her heart into that - so lovely. Just one of the few tunes along with Ashokan Farewell that gives me damp eyes - that too has a Scottish connection according to the composer.

I might have to have an afternoon snooze and listen to your radio show which is on after midnight here in Oz. :hi:
