Re: Floods in Saltcoats 1991

I remember that weekend so well. The usual Saturday in our house included me dropping my dad off at the Winton where he enjoyed a pint (or four) with my brother George, and a trip or two across the road to the bookies. The day was getting stormier and stormier, so when I went back down the street to...

Re: FANCY GAUN FOR A WALK?

The garden means much more to me now. But why did we have to reach the ages we are before we find out about the McCubbin brothers and Robert Cook's uncle? Why were these stories not told at school? It would have made learning much more meaningful, certainly for me. Penny - my dad told me about the ...

Re: Three towns weddings - Topic for June 2009

All these years, I've called the scramble - bowl money - and now I know - it's bell money! Wonder where it derived from? Talking about chanty jumping - I knew someone who, when she and her pals were skint, used to travel to one of the nearby towns (like Kilwinkie or Dalry) dressed up as if it was he...

Re: When did the three towns become the Three Towns?

Susan

I was very active politically in the 70s and 80s and the three towns were always referred to as the three burghs then - I must admit when I saw this website referred to as the three towns that was the first time - but it has become so familiar now.

Open at Turnberry

I am working at Girvan Primary School this week and had to take the long way home last night because of a slow moving vehicle and noticed that the grandstands were built at the 18th green ready for the Open in July - time's marching on. Maybe we should start putting up our grandstands at the Masonic...

Sounds like you might have a virus - what operating system are you using and what anti virus software are you using. Do you download regular updates?
