Re: Australia
Thanks Jim and Alistar for the info greatly appreciate it. I will pass it on to my grandaughter who still lives in Saltcoats whereas I am in the US. It seems that is settled and she is definitely on her way in August

Aland,My name is Tommy Hanlon and I worked for Mccall Frazer in Fairlie before we all moved to Ardrossan. It was McCall who bought the DAF. I loved it . Oh by the way we drivers all cleaned our own coaches inside and out.

Aland,
You missed out on the DAF at Clyde Coast. I got that spanking new. It was the only one. Thay sold it so as to keep the fleet Volvo's.

Re: " A Saunter roon Stinstin"
The shop in Burnbank st was Peter Quidi's (sp) Many a cone I bought there. A little confession on my part it was the one and only time I got a hiding from my Dad. We used to steal chocolate from the side of the counter. So being a big man I told some of the local girls who shopped me to Peter Needle...

Re: AA Bus Stance - Ardrossan
You are so correct. The 3 towners possibly had the best bus service anywhere in the UK. No matter where you wanted to go there was a bus every half hour and in some cases (A1) every 10 minutes. Although I don't think it was appreciated.

Re: The A1 'Stevenston Pillar Box' bus
Sheena,
The bus I remember was the Guy double- Decker. I hated it on the Killie route as it only did 35 MPH. Plus it had a crash gearbox which made it slower. But in saying that it just kept going like bunny batteries
