Re: Chernobyl

I saw the originals Meg, in 1959 it was 'The Quatermass experiment' then 'The Quatermass Project' in 1960. All scienze fiction, 6 part series. Scared the life out of me. Didn't see the 1979 version,Quatermass - the earth explodes.
Chernobyl seems to bring back memories of that series.

Re: Saltcoats coasters 1950

Would anyone recognise the piper? Looking closer on the beach scene, I can make out three ponies brought down for pony rides on the extra busy days. Also the Westfield Hotel, very popular in the 50s/60s. Wonder why it was knocked down. Meekan, do they still put lovely flower beds in the ground at th...

Saltcoats coasters 1950

Found these old coatsers in a drawer. When Saltcoats was at its best. Particularly like the one with the Pavillon/boating pond, even the fairground on the Braes. And the swimming pool. Even the little track where the children's train went round. No Aldis in those days. Then there is the one with the...

Re: Coronavirus pandemic

No Meg, anyone can go now as long as they wear a mask. So hypocritcal to see a full church for the funeral, when no-one bothered with him when he was alive and needing help.

Rumor has it

Heard a rumor yesterday that Ardrossan Harbour will be closing for repairs and the Arran Ferry will then dock at Troon Harbour. Any truth in this?.

Re: Coronavirus pandemic

Yesterday was the funeral of a family friend, 63 years old, but his death was not due to the virus Covid 19, but rather to the lockdown. He lived alone and suffered from depression and being locked up in his home for three months, no family nearby and the carers not going to check up on him, It was ...

Re: Hypocritical China

Australia has already witnessed violence, albeit small scale, perpetrated solely by Chinese, on our streets and at Universities and their Ambassador “warns” us!!! Am I concerned about Chinese intentions in my part of the world? You bet I am! Re: Hypocritical China by Jim McCreadie » Sun Nov 18, 201...

Re: A welcome visitor

This morning I was woken up to screams of delight 'CHARLIES BACK! CHARLIES BACK!' sure enough our 'pet' pheasant Charlie, had reappeared in his usual place, the field behind our house, accompanied by his wife and 5 little ones. He had been missing for three weeks and we had feared the worse. The gran...
