Re: Old Ardeer Golf Club
My parents were members of the old and new clubs and were all were juniors of both. Can remember riding the tractors when we moved the turf.

Tragic. We met her with her partner outside Cecchini's in Ardrossan a few weeks ago and she was in great form. The turnout at Masonhill will have been a comfort to the family.

Re: World Cup 2010 - Discussion
There was a lot of muttering in the cornflakes at breakfast in Adelaide this morning, but the tone in the news progs in Oz seems one of resignation rather than surprise at the nature of the defeat. They seemed to give the Germans way to much room in the first half. Once they went down to 10 men it w...

England didn't impress and were a bit lucky to get a draw in the end. I hear that Andy Townsend on TV commen...

Re: Thomas Telford
It's widely reported that Thomas Telford, prior to the construction of Ardrossan Harbour, was commissioned to survey "Ardrossan Bay". Presumably he did but has anyone come across anything that might positively confirm that he himself visited the town. http://www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/...

Dead Easy on the midnight bathing and water feeling warmer- Night air temperature is lower relative to the water temperature so it feels warmer when you go in to the water- doubt very much whether the water temperature would have been higher . Come to think of it, the water temp may have been highe...

Eglinton Arms Hotel
Passing the old police station in Harbour Street I noticed a red sandstone wall behind with church like tall narrow apertures adjoining the land with the new flats. There only appears to be this single wall left but looking at google images of the nineties it seems to have been part of a bigger stru...
