Located the following couple while surfing the wuhwuhwuh. Hopefully, the data will prove useful to someone.

Captain Robert COCHRANE (b. Saltcoats, 1807) and wife Ellen SMITH (b. Stevenston, 1812).
Robert came to the U.S. when he was twenty-five years old (1832). Ellen joined him in 1834 and, after a short stay in New York City, they moved to Oswego, where, on 04 October 1837, son David Mitchell COCHRANE was born. David followed in his father's footsteps and also became a Captain on the Great Lakes.
